本枚银币正面为袁世凯左侧面像，上列“中华民国十年”六字，字体正经秀丽，挺秀萧洒。袁世凯头像的后侧下方有英文“L.GIORGI”字样，英文签字十分细小，且紧贴齿廓，是在华外籍铸币专家意大利镌刻师“鲁尔治·乔治”署名缩写，俗称签字大头。钱币反面两条嘉禾左右相交，下系结带，中铸“壹圆”字样，钱文清晰，浮雕感强烈，用手触摸，可感受到钱币凹凸有致的纹理，有着不错的手感。袁大头是辛亥革命以后，袁世凯为了巩固国内政局稳定，发展民族经济，也为“制宪”和“称帝”作准备，于是毅然决定在全国“统一币制”发行的国币。“袁大头”在货币收藏界被称为银元之宝，它是中国近千种近代银币中流传广、影响大的银元品种，也是近代中国币制变革中的一个重要角色。

袁世凯像银币，又称“袁头币”，俗称“袁大头”。是民国建设之后深圳于1914年12月，在天津造币总厂始铸的国币，铸额甚巨，听说总共铸有8亿枚之多；铸期甚长，划分有民国三、五、八、九、十年袁像银币；其中以十年最为稀有珍贵。流通极广，天下各省及中外商业通用。1931年，国民党反动派对苏区举行军事围剿和经济封锁，红色政权对敌斗争情形十分恶劣，为了顺应对敌斗争形势的需要，红军便在从打土豪缴获来的民国十年‘袁大头’旧银元上，在袁世凯头像右侧打上了‘苏维埃’的戳记，为我所用，以示区别，用来生长革命凭证地经济，保障红应和红色政权建设。目前发现的十年袁大头不超过百枚，现在袁大头在市面上极其多见，但大部分都是伪造品，正品并不多，很多收藏者也成了“冤大头”，但是真正的袁大头市场极为少见.特别是十年的袁大头．正面：“造”字是撇点告（八、九年的“造”字是竖点告），国字第二笔不带勾，肩章的框和杠是粗线条与其它年号的肩章明显不同，袁像前襟处均缺一小内齿。背面：与“壹”字下一横平行的一颗禾粒是直粗芒或弯粗芒，提勾圆，嘉禾局部浅打，以右中部明显，一些禾粒若现若隐，使嘉禾显得稀松。本藏品做工精美，外巧取天工，夺造化之才，内涵中华民族崛起之密，实为精品，加之藏品本身保存相当完好，故市场价值相当高，乃是收藏爱好者绝佳之选!
