    "大泉五十"钱是新莽货币中的一种，"泉"是"钱"的借用.王莽相信谶纬学说,在其夺天下后,以刘字(繁体刘字)由卯.金.刀三字所组成,遂为避刘字， 铸币文字都要避讳。而改”钱”为"泉"。同时取意,"钱如泉水流转,永不停息".大泉五十即为"大钱当五十"的意思。
