清光绪末年，清政府为整治各地分散铸币而引起的币制混乱，便致力于币制的整顿与改革。除明定铸币权统一归中央外，还详细制定了铸币的样式、单位、分量和成色。大清银币大字版银元即为其中成员之一。此系列币，体制完备，制作精美，实属中国货币史上之空前。 大清银币(一两)试铸币曲须龙－－清代机铸币中龙。因龙须稍短而弯曲而得名，与长须龙对举。宣统三年清朝银币是从1911年开始铸造的，铸造了多个版别，但由于种种原因，只有“曲须龙”版别的宣统三年清朝银币正式铸造并流通，其他版别的就属于试铸样币，未曾流通使用，因此民间见到的宣统三年清朝银币为数不多“曲须龙”的版别。
