玻璃陨石是一种天然玻璃物质。由于外观似黑曜岩，故又称似黑曜岩。但两者的成分、结构都不同。中国古代称之为雷公墨。唐代刘恂著《岭表录异》曾有记载。玻璃陨石内常含有气泡空腔，大小由几微米至几毫米，个别可达几厘米。还含有焦石英、柯石英、斜锆石和陨石中常见的铁镍金属等包体。一般认为，玻璃陨石是巨大的陨石或彗核撞击地球，使地球表层岩石熔融高速溅出坑外急速冷却而成。

玻璃陨石出现在珠宝玉石市场上，常制作成珠链和坠子，颜色呈现墨绿色、绿色，透射光下可看到表面及内部有许多圆形细小气泡 ， 测得N=1.535，密度2.359-2.691g/cm3，因气泡存在影响密度值。
