中国第一大铁陨石

 

1898年世界第三大、新疆铁陨石 中国第一大铁陨石，发现于新疆阿尔泰青河县西北，名称为"银骆驼"的铁陨石。这些陨石表面呈现铁的光泽;并且表面布满坑洞和疤痕。依据断裂面分析，其成分为黑白色铁镍金属。其外形呈不规则圆锥体;体积为2.42m×1.85m×1.37m=3.5立方米，重约30吨。该铁陨石含铁88.67%，含镍9.27%。特别是，其中含有6种地球上没有的矿物:锥纹石、镍纹石、变镍纹石、合纹石、陨硫铁和磷铁镍等宇宙矿物。

中国第二大铁陨石

中国第三大铁陨石

2000年，新疆博物馆考古工作者在新疆北部青河县西北的一条山沟里，也发现了散落面积达数平方公里的铁陨石群。根据陨石成分、密度及体积，初步推测其中有的陨石重量足有100吨以上。这次发现的陨石群也处在新疆阿尔泰地区，数量达数千块之多。
