所谓“紫金釉留白”是指用酱釉下表现白花纹饰或图案的一种方法,它同高温紫金釉填白（或堆白）和低温蓝地白花在制作上有本质不同。高温紫金釉地填白（或堆白）器是在胎体表面施以高温釉（如祭蓝釉）后，待釉干，剔去纹饰部分之釉，填以乳浊质白釉，或直接在紫金釉上用乳浊质白釉绘画纹饰，然后高温烧成。而低温蓝地白花属于蓝地粉彩器，是用低温蓝彩做地色，在蓝色地上以白色粉彩料敷画纹饰，然后经低温烧成。
