葫芦瓶，形似葫芦的瓶式，因其“葫”与“福”谐音，“芦”与“禄”同音。两字相接，“福禄”之意便不起自便，且器形像“吉”字，故又名“大吉瓶”，寓意大吉大利。自唐代开始，人们就开始将葫芦的形状应用到瓷器的造型中。宋代，多个陶瓷窑系均烧造。制瓷工匠们运用自己的聪明才智，通过主流的单色釉瓷品种将葫芦造型的塑造水平发挥到极致。元青花的横空出世，将绘画技法与葫芦造型艺术融为一体，烧造出一件件器形优美的青花葫芦瓶，使“葫芦”与“福禄”文化的内容，得到极大地丰富与发展。
