大观通宝，铜质，宋徽宗大观元年（1107年）铸造，该枚铜钱呈橄榄绿色，外圆方穿，正背两面均有内外廓。其正面有铸文“大观通宝”四字，直读，钱文为宋徽宗亲书的“瘦金体”。素背。地张平滑（地张：钱币内外廓之间除文字的部分），上沾有少量土渍，穿郭匀称规整，整体造型古朴美观。钱文“大观通宝”字体纤秀细挺，气韵贯通，字口无一丝粘连，“通”字为宋代方头通（通字“甬”头写作方形）。“大观通宝”四个字，有简有繁，在圆钱上本不易处理得当，但该钱文部署、配置得恰到好处，令人赏心悦目，精美绝伦。由大小推断，此钱应为大观通宝当十钱。

合背钱，顾名思义，是指两枚钱的“背”合铸在一起，铸出的钱，两面完全是同样的钱文。这大概是在铸钱时，有的工匠合错了范，误将两块面文范合在一起了；也有的是为了某种需要而特铸的，如宗教迷信或民俗活动等方面的需要。在合背时，两面如同一个方向的称“正合背”；如是一正一反的称“倒合背”；如是一横一竖的称“十字合背”等等。

宋徽宗书法、绘画造诣极高，其独辟蹊径创造的“瘦金体”楷书，被认为是中国书法史上最灿烂的一笔。“瘦金体”以硬毫作书，法度严谨、结构紧密；瘦挺爽利、冷艳如兰；笔法苍劲、笔墨不浮，既表现了书画家的笔老气足，又显得风神飘逸。

北宋在流行御书钱，即皇帝亲书钱文，宋徽宗亦将瘦金体书法应用到了钱币书法中去。宋徽宗在铸钱上投入了极大的热情，他与王莽、咸丰皇帝共称为中国古代三大铸币能手。他在位时期，钱监林立，铸造了大量的形态、钱文各异的钱币，一直以来学界都认为徽宗朝的钱币是中国方孔钱中制作最精美的，并将这一时期形容为中国钱币艺术的顶峰，宋徽宗在位期间共用了建中靖国、崇宁、大观、政和、重和、宣和六个年号，铸造了一种非年号钱和五种年号钱。其中建中靖国年间，因年号为四个字，不适于为钱文，也不能仿太平兴国年间的例子铸建中钱，因建中是唐朝的年号，故铸圣宋元宝、通宝，传世极少。崇宁年间，铸崇宁重宝、通宝、元宝钱，均有铜、铁两种。通宝铜钱以当十钱为主，小平次之。重宝则只有铜、铁当十大钱。政和通宝、重宝铸于政和年间，铜铁皆有，钱文对读，小平、折二钱分篆、隶、真三体，版别复杂。折三钱只有铁钱。重宝为折二型铁钱，真书体。重和年间铸重和通宝，仅有小平铜钱，此钱制作精致，文字秀美，钱文对读，篆、隶成对，但重和时短，所铸钱遗留下来的甚少。

中国古钱币收藏市场极度火爆，由于“大观通宝”是不可再生之物，“大观通宝”铸期短暂，在一千年前存世量也并不多，如今能流传下来“大观通宝”价值连城，具有无法估量的收藏和历史价值。如今“大观通宝”早已被各大收藏家和博物馆搜刮而去，唯有在高端交易会上偶尔能见到“大观通宝”身影。合背钱在大量流通的货币中可谓凤毛麟角，且不易发现，也正因此而为古钱币收藏者所特别珍爱。

Daguan Tongbao is made of copper. It was cast in the first year of Daguan (1107), Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty.
