军政府造四川铜币是辛亥革命时期的产物。1911年12月发生“成都兵变”，以尹昌衡、罗纶为正副都督的四川军政府取代了成立仅12天的大汉四川军政府。新的四川军政府成立之初即面临着需用日繁、度支日绌的财政困窘局面。军政府迅速接管了四川成都造币厂，决定铸造“四川铜币”以应急。民国元年（1912年）4月，四川成都造币厂奉四川军政府之命，开模铸造“军政府造四川铜币”（也称“汉”字铜元）。

 

民国元年（1912年）篆书“汉”字四川铜币有5文、10文、20文、50文四种面值，民国二年(1913年)，又添铸“当一百”和“当二百”两种铜元，当一百铜元的模式与当五十的相同。其中100文币仅存样币，是世间难得的精品，极为罕见。“汉”字图案：“汉”字底有数十条横直纹，因而钱币收藏者也称之为“汉”字铜元。“汉”字圆圈外还环绕有18个小圆圈，代表当时的十八个省份。把18个小圆圈围绕着“汉”字联成一体，寓意十八省人民团结起来共同为“驱逐鞑虏，恢复中华”而战斗。

 

“军政府造四川铜币一百文”钱币的正面是上方是“军政府造”，中间是“四川铜币”，正下方是“当制钱一百文”，字体都是繁体字样；钱币的背面正上方是“中华民国二年”，中间是篆书“汉”字，“汉”字圆圈外还环绕有18个小圆圈。这枚“军政府造四川铜币一百文”钱币品相完整，包浆纯厚，自然圆润，图文清晰，是世间难得的四川铜币，传世量少，极为罕见，具有一定的收藏价值。
