将军罐，是因其体形硕大、造型饱满、气魄雄伟酷似一位头顶缨盔的将军而得名。从元代由短颈大腹的无盖大罐到明代的荷叶盖罐逐渐演变形成，从存世的实物来考证，真正成熟的将军罐是从明代嘉靖、万历时期开始，到了清代康熙年间官窑、民窑大量烧造。清代中后期更是备受推崇。将军罐也由实用器皿逐渐发展为用来陈设装饰、供奉避邪的艺术品。

青花将军罐高25厘米，直口、丰肩圆胸，腹部渐收，器型饱满，整体就像两位戴盔披甲壮年的将军，器型稳重挺拔，威猛刚健。青花图案自上而下共分七层，盖子顶是蓝色的围棋钮，往下用青花绘出2朵枝条纤细修长、花朵丰满的缠枝花，在盖子的折沿上用泼墨留白的手法绘出半隐半现的梅花，花朵分内外两圈。罐子的颈部是连续的如意纹，肩部用青花绘制的如意头花边披肩。作者在罐子的胸部与腹部巧妙地运用写意的线描手法绘满了浓淡相间的缠枝花，委婉流畅的曲线将花朵与叶子表现得婀娜轻巧。腰部以下是变形的回纹。这种庄严威武的造型与浪漫娟秀纹饰巧妙的配合，逐渐成为了大众非常喜爱的风格，这也是从清代乾隆开始一直到清末青花瓷上较为流行的典型纹饰。
