福建官局造光绪元宝每枚当钱十文，铸造时间是光绪27年，也就是1901年，直到1912年才完全停止铸造。福建是继广东省局之后，较早开始铸造铜元的省份之一，不仅采用了和广东一样先进的设备、技术和币模，同时还更具特色。 福建官局造光绪元宝每枚当钱十文的材质是红铜，这一点是非常少见的，因为大部分光绪元宝都是白银铸造，唯有少数几个省局铸造采用的是铜。这也和当地的原材料以及财政有关。

福建官局造光绪元宝每枚当钱十文，钱币正面珠圈内镌汉文和满文“光绪元宝”字样，珠圈外上端铸“福建官局造”五字，下镌“每枚当钱十文”六字，两旁镌花饰之，字体端庄工整，笔画刚劲有力。 钱币背面蟠龙居中，龙纹极其精美，龙鳞细腻优美，线条棱角分明，纹理清晰流畅，图案层次感强。 观之，犹如一条翱翔天际的神龙，活灵活现，栩栩如生，让人叹为观止，异常震撼;龙纹外圈为英文，两旁镌小花饰之，小巧可爱。
