四川是民国时期铸造铜币品种最多、数量最大、版式最繁、持续时间最长的省份。军政府造四川铜币是辛亥革命时期的产物。1911年武昌起义之后，四川于11月27日宣布独立，以一场铁路纷争为开端，四川这个 大清帝国人口最多的省份，终于宣布独立，建立大汉四川军政府。1911年12月发生“成都叛乱”，以尹昌衡、罗纶为正副都督的四川军政府取代了建设仅12天的大汉四川军政府。
