启功（1912——2005），自称“姓启名功”，  字元白，也作元伯，号苑北居士，北京市满人。  雍正皇帝的第九代孙。 中国当代著名书画家、教育家、古典文献学家、鉴定家、红学家、诗人，国学大师。曾任北京师范大学副教授、教授，中国人民政治协商会议全国委员会常务委员、国家文物鉴定委员会主任委员、中央文史研究馆馆长、博士研究生导师、九三学社顾问、中国书法家协会名誉主席，世界华人书画家联合会创会主席，中国佛教协会、故宫博物院、国家博物馆顾问，西泠印社社长。

此幅启功书法，长138cm 宽48cm，录弘一法师语：对失意人莫谈得意事，处得意日莫忘失意时 （见典籍巜格言联璧》）。乃警策身心之语句，垂后人之良范。弘一法师，俗名李叔同（1880一一1942），晚清民国传奇人物，是学术界公认的通才丶奇才。精通书法丶绘画丶音乐丶佛学等等，既是才气横溢的艺术教育家，也是一代高僧大德。丰子恺有记：“李先生有深大的心灵，又兼备文才与乐才"。启功先生作书，不择砚墨，宣纸下垫几张旧报纸，口占诗句，玑珠满纸，章法天成，既有阳刚气，又有阴柔美，具有独特的“启家”面貌。
