光绪元宝是大清光绪年流通大面值货币之首，是我国首批引进海外技术的印发流通货币，对于现今也蕴藏了一定历史意义。“光绪元宝”当时共十九个省局铸造。除中央户部，地方省所铸铜元，皆在其正面上缘镌写省名。

     北洋是现在天津地区的旧称，在清朝时被称为直隶省。1899年，清政府想收回北洋造币厂的铸币权，后经荣禄等大臣保奏，方使北洋铸币厂保留了下来。几经周折，北洋铸币厂所铸造的光绪元宝为数不多，流通于世的相对其他元宝的数量也较少，随着时光的流逝，北洋造的光绪元宝也大量的遗失。此北洋造光绪元宝包浆老到，做工精致，品相上乘，文字俊秀，笔划纹饰滚圆深竣，楷书文字书法极为端庄大气，间架结构平衡舒展。

     奉天是清朝时期辽宁的称呼，所以奉天省其实就是辽宁省，奉天府就是现在的沈阳市。沈阳造币厂是清朝非常重要的一个造币厂，它在当时是机制币制造较早的一个省份。这是奉天省铸造最早的一种铜元，后来沈阳造币厂被义和团战乱毁掉了，直到1903年的时候，也就是光绪29年，才开始重新修建造币厂，并于同年铸造光绪元宝当制钱十文，也就是我们现在所说的奉天省造光绪元宝当制钱十文。奉天省造光绪元宝当制钱十文是光绪元宝中比较少见的一种铜元，尤其是铸造时间非常短，仅为1903年到1906年期间铸造，虽然有四个年头，但是数量很少，存世量更少。

     福建官局造光绪元宝铜币造于光绪二十六年至三十一年（1900～1905年），“光绪年间闽省所需银元均由粤省供应，维因路途遥远，往返费时，运汇多费，劳民伤财。闽督准商人孙利用集股购机，就在闽地试铸。未几奉户部令，不准商人附搭股本或自行铸造。后拟委派闽籍浙江候补知县孙葆办理，由善后局、盐道筹款续铸。后因局库支绌，无款拨给而作罢”，从历史资料记载可见此款铜币铸额不多，留存至今的更是甚少，完美品相的寥若星辰。
