“军政府造四川铜币”是辛亥革命时期的产物。1911年12月发生“成都兵变”，以尹昌衡、罗纶为正副都督的四川军政府取代了成立仅12天的大汉四川军政府。新的四川军政府成立之初即面临着需用日繁、度支日绌的财政困窘局面。军政府迅速接管了四川成都造币厂，决定铸造“四川铜币”以应急。民国元年（1912年）4月，四川成都造币厂奉四川军政府之命，开模铸造“军政府造四川铜币”（也称“汉”字铜元）。

此组四川铜币顶部铸楷体“军政府造”，底部铸字“制钱五十文”，币中心铸文“四川铜币”，另一面也有精美图文，币上文字书法极为精湛、大气；铜币铸造精美，工艺精湛，雕工极好，浮雕感很强，岁月的痕迹更为其增添了几分沉静和古朴的质感。钱币虽小，也可管窥当时社会文化一斑，质地浑厚有实感，虽在岁月流转中有所残损，但其背后的历史意义依然赋予它极高的收藏价值。上下左右分列，其中心饰有芙蓉花纹。左右饰以花星纹饰。铜币背面中央大圆圈内为一篆书“汉”字，因而钱币收藏者也称之为“汉”字铜元，圈外上端镌“中华民国二年”六个字，另一枚刻“当制钱一百文”左右分列四星花饰。“汉”字圆圈外还环绕有18个小圆圈，代表当时的十八个省份。把18个小圆圈围绕着“汉”字联成一体，寓意十八省人民团结起来共同为“驱逐鞑虏，恢复中华”而战斗。它带有辛亥革命那一时期鲜明的时代印记，见证了那一段波澜壮阔的民国历史。
