咸丰元宝为中国古代钱币之一。 据资料记载：清咸丰年间（1851-1861年），太平天国农民起义发展迅猛，并在江苏南京建都，此时清政府赖以铸钱之用的滇铜（云南省出产的铜料），因道路阻断而无法运进北京。一方面是镇压起义急需大量的军饷开销，一方面是铸钱的原材料告缺，给清政府造成了严重的财政困难，最终迫使清政府自咸丰三年开始发行纸币和改铸大钱来弥补财政亏空。咸丰元宝当百钱币就是在这样的大背景下产生的。

该枚咸丰元宝当百，形制规整，大小合适，绣色自然，岁月痕迹鲜明，历史性过渡自然，为钱币珍品。钱币正面为“咸丰元宝”四字，背面上下注汉字“当百”，正面圆形方孔的铜币，其形状外发天，内地法，取义惊鸿。虽然距今年代不远，仍具有不小收藏价值。
