李苦禅（1899- 1983），男，出身贫寒。现代书画家、美术教育家。原名李英杰，改名英，字励公。山东高唐人。1923年拜齐白石为师。曾任杭州艺专教授，中央美术学院教授，中国美术家协会理事，中国画研究院院务委员。擅画花鸟和鹰，晚年常作巨幅通屏，代表作品：《盛荷》《群鹰图》《松鹰图》《兰竹》《晴雪图》《水禽图》。1978年出版《李苦禅画辑》。

中国近代大写意花鸟画宗师、美术教育家李苦禅(1899—1983)原名李英杰、李英，字超三、励公。生于山东省高唐县贫苦农家，自幼受到家乡传统文化之熏陶，走上了艺术征途。^[1]

In his later years, he often painted large screens, representing works such as Sheng He, Qunying Tu, Song Yingtu, Lan Zhu, Qing Xue Tu and Waterfowl Tu. In 1978, Li Kuchan Painting Series was published.

 Li Kuchan (1899-1983), a master of freehand brushwork in flower and bird painting and an educator of fine arts in modern China, was originally named Li Yingjie and Li Ying, with the words "Chao San" and "Li Gong". Born in a poor peasant family in Gaotang County, Shandong Province, he was nurtured by his hometown's traditional culture and embarked on an artistic journey.

李苦禅继承了中国画的传统，吸取石涛、八大山人、扬州画派、吴昌硕、齐白石等人的技法，在花鸟大写意绘画方面有特色。有豪放，气势磅礴，形象鲜明的风格，树立了大写意花鸟画的新风范。李苦禅用自己审美观点和表现手法，创造出许多艺术形象。李苦禅画花鸟，有一定写实的成分，不是对自然物象客观的描摹，是凝练后创造。随意中蕴含着朴拙之气，自然含蓄中蕴含阳刚之气。李苦禅的画幅越大越能自由挥洒。李苦禅晚年的作品达到了“笔简意繁”的艺术境界。

Li Kuchan inherited the tradition of Chinese painting, drawing on the techniques of Shi Tao, Badashanren, Yangzhou Painting School, Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi and others, and has its own characteristics in freehand brushwork of flowers and birds. The bold and unconstrained, majestic and vivid style has established a new style of freehand flower-and-bird painting. Li Kuchan created many artistic images with his own aesthetic views and expression methods. Li Kuchan's painting of flowers and birds has a certain realistic composition. It is not an objective description of natural objects, but a concise creation. In casual, there is simplicity; in natural, there is masculinity. The bigger the picture of Li Kuchan, the more freely he can write it. In his later years, Li Kuchan's works reached the artistic realm of "simple and complicated writing".
