霁蓝釉，瓷器釉色名。霁蓝色泽深沉，釉面不流不裂，色调浓淡均匀，呈色较稳定。正因其釉色蓝如深海，釉面匀净，呈色稳定。古人评价颜色釉瓷器时特别看重蓝釉瓷器，究其原因，一方面是蓝釉瓷器多为高温釉，烧制难度大，另一方面则因为烧制蓝釉所用的氧化钴原料稀少。而钴是青花的呈色剂，融在釉中，即可烧成钴蓝釉，呈色十分稳定。但是色彩鲜艳的蓝釉，除釉色纯净外，尚须有洁白的胎质映衬，方能显现出蓝如宝石的理想釉色。

此梅瓶口小颈短，口沿平坦，肩丰渐滑，肩以下逐步收敛，至近底处微微外撇。整体器型沉稳庄重，浑然大气，瓶身通体施霁蓝釉，留白处堆塑云龙纹，一条龙追赶一颗火焰宝珠，龙环绕于瓶身一周，龙首上仰，双角微微后翘，龙眼突起，显得炯炯有神。并衬以如浮动的珊瑚枝一样的四朵火焰形云纹，更加衬托出巨龙以其叱咤风云之势，腾飞于万里长空之中。

陶工们为了表现神龙出水，御云而行的壮美景象，根据梅瓶重心偏上的器形特征，于丰隆的上腹部雕饰灵动而不狰狞的神龙；然后利用蓝色收敛、白色扩张的视觉特性，采用半似真、半写意的施釉手法，用大面积的钴蓝釉表现辽阔浩淼的海洋与天空，再用淡雅的青白釉饰雕刻生动的神龙，在海天一色的背景中凸显神龙的矫健身形。从那飘逸于神龙身旁的似火流云里，观赏者可以体悟到神龙出而云雷动的雄浑气势;而梅瓶那婷婷玉立的造型和云龙之圆润流畅的线条，在沉着的蓝釉衬托下，又带给人以优雅明净的审美享受。
