道光通宝铸于清宣宗道光年间(1821-1850年)。钱文“道光通宝”四字以楷书书写．从上而下而右而左直读，钱背是记有宝局二十名的满文。道光通宝形制特点基本与嘉庆钱相同，所不同者只是新疆际克苏、库车因缺少黄铜而开始铸折五当十升值平钱，这是清代虚值大钱的滥觞。因此造就道光通宝价值同比其他清代铜钱还要高。

此钱币钱币外圆内方，正面钤有“道光通宝”四字，背面钤有满文宝源，此信息表明其铸造局。此枚道光通宝字迹深俊，铜质精良，铸工精细，字体清晰端庄，笔画圆润工整，中间穿正方形孔，在日光的照射下更散发出熠熠光辉。整币纹脉清晰。
