Today's collection is the early Ming Dynasty jade bun: 90.58 mm long, two petals, the overall carving process is regular. This kind of flat bun is thick at both ends, fine in the middle and made of jade. The two sides of the flat bun are in any case, the reverse is light, the whole shape slightly bends in, with a very obvious decorative significance, fixed hair, shining. Ancient Chinese men and women tied their hair on the top of their heads. Jade bun is an indispensable ornament for many men and women to decorate their hair.

Men in the Ming Dynasty used hairpins or buns, which were mainly used to fix buns of hair or crowns of emperors and princes. Bundle hair crowns have different materials, but most of them have symmetrical pairs or pairs of perforations on the left and right sides. Most of them are fixed by hairpins or buns on both sides, and a few are only penetrated by a hairpin or bun. This kind of hairpin or bun is usually about ten centimeters long, usually two or four hairpins of the same shape are used in pairs.

Jade bun was first prevalent in the early Western Zhou Dynasty. At that time, the number of jade buns was very large, and the variety and style were also complete. It was the mainstream jewelry at that time. The shape is conical in shape, and there will be carved patterns on it. The patterns are often six groups of Shouning characters, Buddhist hands, and connecting lines, all of which have the meaning of auspicious celebration.

Many tombs in Ming Dynasty were joint tombs of husband and wife or family tombs. Because of various reasons such as theft and disturbance, it was sometimes difficult to determine which jade hairpin belonged to female tomb owners and which belonged to male tomb owners, especially those with simple shapes of mushroom heads, square heads, duo heads and mushroom heads.

Men in the Ming Dynasty all tied their hair in buns, so they need to use hairpins to fix them. Hence hairpins are essential jewelry for men of all walks of life. Xie Zhaozhong's "Five Miscellaneous Groups" says, "Gu is not only a woman's jewelry, but also worn by ancient men." Three Rites Tu says, "Gu, scholar's bones, doctor's image." Cover the ears of today." The types and styles of men's hairpins are mostly found in women's hairpins, but the selection of materials and details of decoration will reflect the characteristics of men. Today, similar collections are rare, mostly unearthed, and less common among the people. Therefore, they are more precious. Collection value and appreciation space are worth looking forward to.
