在中国近代机制币的中，有一枚银币可以说是鼎鼎大名，无人不知，无人不晓，它就是——广东省造光绪元宝库平重壹两银币，此币由于设计精湛，铸造精美，图案中有“寿”字及二龙戏珠纹样，故习称广东“寿字一两”或“双龙一两”，其稀有程度及其神秘的身世一直为藏界津津乐道，被誉为“传说中的银币”。
广东省造光绪元宝库平重壹两银币据传说是为慈禧太后七十寿辰而铸，正面除满汉文外，左右各铸蝙蝠图案，背面正中书“寿”字，四周是双龙戏珠和祥云纹。这枚广东省造光绪元宝库平重壹两银币前后只铸造两版，本就存世极少，后又历经动荡、毁于战火中不知几何。
此枚藏品为广东省造光绪元宝“寿”字双龙币，此币正面以珠圈为界，分为内外两个部分：珠圈以外上端为“廣東省造”四字，下方为“库平重壹兩”五字，左右两侧各铸一蝙蝠图案；珠圈以内分别铸有满、汉文“光绪元宝”四字。背面珠圈外面铸有双龙图案；珠圈里面铸有一圆形“寿”字，结合钱币正面的蝙蝠图案，取其“蝠（福）”“寿”双全的美好含义，甚是吉祥！
