刺绣艺术源远流长，自最早出土以来，至今已有三千多年历史。在漫长的发展演变中，刺绣受到经济、政治、地域、宗教、文化等诸多因素的影响，逐渐成为集绘画、染织、技艺于一体的特殊艺术载体，是我国优秀的民族传统工艺之一。清代刺绣是我国古代刺绣发展的最后一个阶段，也是刺绣在民间各阶层生活中使用最为普遍的阶段，留下了大量传世作品，具有极其丰富的文化内涵。

Embroidery art has a long history. Since its earliest excavation, it has a history of more than 3,000 years. In the long process of development and evolution, embroidery is influenced by many factors, such as economy, politics, region, religion, culture and so on. It has gradually become a special artistic carrier integrating painting, dyeing and weaving, and skills. It is one of the excellent traditional national crafts in China. Qing Dynasty embroidery is the last stage of the development of ancient embroidery in China. It is also the most common stage of embroidery used in the life of all classes of the people. It left behind a large number of handed down works with extremely rich cultural connotations.
 

由于刺绣保存难度极大，古代刺绣的价值远超过其他收藏品。保存至今的大多数清代刺绣颜色都有脱落现象，甚至变色，或者已经开始腐烂。

平绣又称细绣，中国绣种之一，属于湘绣十四种绣法中的一种，湘绣的刺绣技法在数代艺人传承和发展过程中，产生了各种不同的绣法和针法。平绣是在平面底料上运用齐针、抡针、套针、擞和针和施针等针法进行的一种刺绣。绣面细致入微，纤毫毕现，富有质感。多用于刺绣装饰欣赏品和较高级的日用品。
 Flat embroidery, also known as fine embroidery, one of the Chinese embroidery species, belongs to one of the fourteen embroidery methods of Hunan embroidery. The embroidery techniques of Hunan embroidery have produced various embroidery methods and needle methods in the process of inheritance and development of artists for generations. Flat embroidery is a kind of embroidery on flat base material by using needle alignment, broaching, sleeving, broaching and applying needles. The embroidery surface is meticulous and delicate, and full of texture. It is mostly used for embroidery ornaments, appreciations and higher-grade daily necessities.

此组晚清平绣藏品，包括1件桌布和12件餐巾。绣品保藏完好，年代悠久，稀罕珍品，具有很高的艺术价值。绣品在图案的结构上非常严谨，有明确的几何对称布局，大量运用了花草纹，营造浪漫气氛，手法上写实与抽象并用。针脚整齐，配色清雅，线条流畅，将图案表现得自然生动，精致优雅，绣工之精湛，充分显示出极其巧妙精微之刺绣技术，极具收藏价值。
 This collection includes 1 tablecloth and 12 napkins. Embroidery is well preserved, with a long history, rare and precious, and has high artistic value. Embroidery in the structure of the pattern is very rigorous, with a clear geometric symmetry layout, a large number of use of flower and grass patterns, to create a romantic atmosphere, realistic and abstract techniques.
