此钱币正面中央为孙中山侧面肖像，边缘内上镌中文隶书体“中华民国”四字，下镌“开国纪念币”五字，左右长枝花饰。背面中央为中文隶书体“壹圆”及嘉禾，边缘英文“中华民国”、壹圆”。左右分列六角星，直线边齿，纤长细腻。此币包浆老道，历史留下的痕迹清晰可见，其无论文字和纹饰，皆十分精到，凸凹鲜明，文字笔划和纹饰线条圆滚，显示模具冲压着力深打，致其品相精美无比，其工艺水准也是至今之伪所不能矣。整币铸造精良，熟旧自然，色泽明亮，设计别致，边齿过关，是钱币中的精品。
