民国成立后，铜元仍继续大量流通使用。1914年，铜元正式改称“铜币”，民国发行的铜币与清最大的区别是龙纹被换成了由稻穗组成的嘉禾纹。各省铸造的铜元大多为两面叉的国旗图案，并有“开国纪念币”或“中华民国铜币”字样。
由于双旗币产生于民国时期，民国在中国历史上仅仅存在了几十年的时间，因此，在兵荒马乱的年代，钱币在经历了无穷的岁月之后，依然可以完整地保留下来，实属不易，具有很高的文物收藏价值、历史文化价值以及艺术品鉴价值。虽说民国时期的钱币版本较多，但能够收藏到这种正面镌刻有“十文”楷体字、反面印制着“中华民国”双面旗帜的全真纪念币，也在当今的藏品市场中并不多见。
