龙泉窑是中国历史上的一个名窑，宋代六窑之一，龙泉窑属于中国南方青瓷系列，因其主要产区在浙江省龙泉市而得名。它开创于三国两晋，盛于南宋、元、明，结束于清代，生产瓷器的历史长达1600多年，是中国制瓷历史上最长的一个瓷窑系，它的产品畅销于亚洲、非洲、欧洲的许多国家和地区，并获得了中国瓷器史上唯一拥有国际身份的标识Celadon，其知名度仅次于China，影响十分深远。

龙泉窑产品以民间生活日用青瓷为主。宋青瓷胎色灰白，釉色艾绿，釉质薄匀晶莹，多以刻花、篾点或篾划装饰技法，表现波浪、蕉叶、团花、缠枝花、流云、婴戏等纹样。还有塑贴纹饰。器类以碗、盘、壶等为主，也有少量的盆、 钵、 罐、瓶等。造型端庄，制作工整，器底旋削平滑。

 此件龙泉窑鬼谷子下山图双龙耳瓶，藏品瓶盘口、束颈、溜肩、弧腹下渐收、圈足。通体施青釉、釉层肥厚，仅足端无釉露胎，胎质坚硬。口沿下饰双龙耳，颈部浮雕蕉叶纹，腹部饰“鬼谷子下山”图案，胫部饰覆莲纹。此类器形为龙泉窑南宋典型器，有不同尺寸的器物传世。双耳变化较多，有龙耳、凤耳、魔猲耳及鱼耳等，偶见耳内套带有双环的。
