五帝钱一般是指“清代五帝钱”，是清朝最兴盛的五位帝王（顺治、康熙、雍正、乾隆和嘉庆）在位期间所铸造的古钱。这五位帝王相继在位180年，是清朝最辉煌的时期，在位期间国势强盛，出现了历史上著名的“康乾盛世”。

这枚山鬼花钱一面刻着阳文的竖排汉字，内容是“雷霆杀鬼降精，斩妖辟邪，永保神清，奉太上老君急如律令敕”，最左边刻着“雷令”，最右边刻着四字符文；另一面则刻着阳文八卦纹饰以及对应着的“乾、兑、离、震、巽、坎、艮、坤”八个阳文八卦方位。钱的外缘因为高于内环，再加之主人将它拴了绳子佩戴在身上，被摩挲得泛出温润的黄铜光泽，内环凹下的部位则有类似黑漆古的包浆层，黑黄相互映衬，使得这枚铜钱愈发显得古朴厚重。
