“大日本明治八年”一圆，是外国商贸银币在中国民间的一种简称。该“龙洋”设计别致，铸工较为精致，因“龙洋”发行的年代不同，又可分为很多版式，仅以一圆“龙洋”为例，从明治3年起至明治45年，就有几十种之多。一般来说，日本明治的早年“龙洋”，以其材质珍贵，艺术价值高，制作精美，图案考究，文字清秀，内容丰富，而具有一定的保值、升值功能与较高的收藏价值。
