新版镍币的酝酿1935年11月，国民党政府宣佈实行法币政策，禁止银元在市面流通。随后发行可在市场上流通的21种版别的镍币；但其实早在1935年初，民国政府已经委派美国费城造币厂铸造伍分，拾分，廿分的镍币每种11枚，送交国民政府呈递样品。国民政府时期制币事宜多与美国方面往来，如中央造币厂之筹建，开工后之管理等皆得力于美方。「船洋」模具自始至终，全数由费城造币厂供应。民国二十四年镍币试製亦由该厂为之，民国二十五年起由上海中央造币厂生产。1935年末，上海中央造币厂正式铸造镍币。

1914年2月8日，国民政府公佈发行1种5分镍币。民国24年时又发行了5分，10分，20分3种。当时省市流通使用镍币较少，直到1936年时，中央银行才运来第一批镍币一万元，因数量不多，不够分配，后面运到的第二批镍币有5万元，币值有5分，10分，20分3种，其中5分币有2万元10分币和20分币各1.5万元。中央银行，钱庄挂牌代换镍币，因10分镍币发行量跟存世量较少，因此，此件藏品具有很高的收藏价值。

中华民国三十年孙小头镍币，品相精美，纹饰优雅，包浆入骨，鏽色自然，纵使历经无穷岁月的洗礼，仍可保存此态，实属不易，钱币正面中央为孙中山侧面肖像，边缘内上镌中文书“中华民国三十年”；纹饰精美，刻画细致，五官深邃，形神俱备，连毛髮、衣纹等细小的东西都清晰可见，工艺极其精湛。钱币背面中央为布币图案，在古币两侧镌币值“十分”，字体端庄清秀，规整圆润，遒劲有力，挺拔俊秀，极具书法艺术价值。钱币正反面线圈外依廓缘镌回纹，设计精美，造型别致，观之，美轮美奂，十分独特，实乃一枚可遇不可求的钱币收藏精品，身价不凡，价值不菲，值得珍藏！
