铜胎掐丝珐琅又称景泰蓝，使用的珐琅多以蓝色为主，故而得名“景泰蓝”。关于景泰蓝的起源，考古界至今没有统一的答案。一种观点认为景泰蓝诞生于唐代；另一种说法是元代忽必烈西征时，从西亚、阿拉伯一带传进中国，先在云南一带流行，后得到京城人士喜爱，才传入中原。但有一点是学术界公认：明代宣德年间是中国景泰蓝制作工艺优点，并提高到了一个新的水平，达到辉煌阶段，“景泰蓝”一词也从此诞生。釉色均肥，丝工粗犷，饰纹丰富。

乾隆皇帝（1736～1795）对于珐琅器有着全面的爱好，命令养心殿造办处珐琅作生产了种类繁多、难以计数的景泰蓝器，不仅宫廷珐琅作承造御用品，京都、广州和扬州等地均生产用于进贡的珐琅器。乾隆帝也遵循雍正帝确立下来的“内廷恭造之式”，要求匠役要遵循旨意，做工须符合精细、秀雅的艺术标准。由此，乾隆内廷的珐琅制品无不是繁缛华丽、丰满敦重的艺术格调。

They were not only used for imperial service, but also for tribute in Kyoto, Guangzhou and Yangzhou. Emperor Qianlong also followed the "style of being built by the inner Court respectfully" established by Emperor Yongzheng, which required artisans to follow the will and work in accordance with fine and elegant artistic standards. Therefore, the enamel products of Qianlong's imperial court were all overelaborate and full of heavy artistic style.

此藏品为乾隆御制铜胎掐丝珐琅熏香炉。金属胎珐琅器则依据在制作过程中具体加工工艺的不同，可分为掐丝珐琅器、錾胎珐琅器、画珐琅器和透明珐琅器等几个品种。此藏品以铜胎掐丝珐琅工艺制成，铜丝镶嵌缠枝花卉纹。掐丝工整，线条流畅，发色沉稳，高贵典雅。底款为“乾隆御制”，为皇家御用器，工艺极为精湛。炉盖似山峦叠嶂，周有云气仙人依附，燃香后，烟气从炉盖的孔洞中缓缓缥缈，如入佛国境，顿觉飘飘欲仙。
