此币正面以珠圈为界，可分为内外两个部分：珠圈以外，上端为“广东省造”四字，下方为“库平重壹两”五字，左右两侧各铸一蝙蝠图案；珠圈以内，铸有满、汉文“光绪元宝”四字。背面也以珠圈为界：珠圈外面，铸有双龙图案；珠圈里面，铸有一圆形“寿”字。这种银币有一个很显着的特色，那就是在币面两侧各有一蝙蝠图案。当时把它的图像铸在银币之上，寓有吉祥的含义。因为，蝙蝠的“蝠”字与幸福的“福”字读音相同，而把蝙蝠图案铸在币面上，系取“蝠”、“福”两字谐音。并且，如将它与背面的“寿”字相对应，便构成“福寿双全”之意。此藏品制作精美，图案考究，文字清秀，内容丰富，银光灿烂，其貌可人，具有极高的收藏价值。

    广东省造双龙寿字大清光绪年间铸造了一系列银币，广东省造光绪元宝寿字双龙银币则是由于当时特地为慈禧太后寿辰而铸造导致不便于流通使用，故铸额极其稀少，更显珍贵。广东“寿”字双龙银币制造精致，楷书文字书法极为端庄大气，间架结构平衡舒展，在龙洋里首屈一指，是家喻户晓的罕见银币珍品，其收藏价值和经济价值在钱币中实属罕见。   

双龙寿字币的具体铸造情况，至今还是一个未解之迷，,为出谱币、钱谱没有记载就不等于没有!无论历史事实如何，"广东双龙寿字银币"在中国近代官铸机制银币中的独特地位是毋庸置疑的，其珍罕性和极高的收藏价值是泉界所一致公认的。
