青花葫芦瓶，又称青花釉里红凤纹瓶，是在青花间用釉里红加绘纹饰的一种瓷器装饰手法。青花和釉里红都是中国陶瓷传统釉下彩装饰。两者制作工序大体相同,不同在于青花瓷以钴料着彩,釉里红瓷则用铜红料着彩。青花釉里红兼有青花瓷的明净素雅，釉里红的深沉浓艳。因此，青花釉里红自诞生之日起，历经数百年，精品迭出，一直是深受人们喜爱的名贵品种。

花瓷起源于唐代，釉里红瓷起源于元代，而把此两者组合在同一件瓷器上，成为一个新的陶瓷品种，这是元代景德镇陶瓷艺人的一项创造性成就。元代以后，明清两代均有烧制。由于铜红的呈色极不稳定，在烧制中对窑室的气氛又十分敏感，稍有变异便不能达到预期的效果，有时一窑甚至几窑才能烧出一件通体鲜红的产品，所以要得到比较纯正的红釉器十分不易。高温铜红釉的烧制工艺，虽然早在元代就已出现，但明代宣德以后逐渐失传，终明—代再没有得到恢复。清代康熙朝恢复了失传200多年的高温铜红釉的生产，因此，有清一朝釉里红瓷烧造的相当成功，不论小器还是大器，均造型古朴，胎体坚致，釉色浓淡分明，具有鲜明的时代特色。
