“多穆”原意为盛酥油的桶。藏语称为董莫(mdong-mo)或多穆。口沿加僧帽状边,又添把和嘴,遂成为壶。多穆壶为藏人拌、盛酥油茶的器皿,酥油茶藏语称恰稣玛,是将由茶砖熬成的浓茶中,倒入少量的酥油和盐,有的还加入一些味精和牛奶等佐料,搅拌至水和酥油交融而成,是藏族同胞生活的必需品。洪武瓷器的纹饰,依然保留着元代简练流畅,豪放生动的风格,只是略显秀气。纹饰较单调,以植物花卉为主,有缠枝菊、缠枝牡丹、缠枝莲、折枝花卉等;此时以龙凤纹装饰的器物很少见,目前只见龙纹不见凤纹。元代瓷器上盛行的极为生动的人物故事题材,以及麒麟、鱼、草虫等动物纹样,在洪武瓷器上却都已消失,这或许与当时朝廷禁令有关。多穆壶为元代首创,此壶乃其中代表作之一。顶与底部以釉里红留白浮雕分别饰龙纹。腹部以青花留白饰云纹。整器保存完整,极为珍贵。
