咸丰重宝当十是以铜为材质铸造于咸丰年间，当时该钱币为了咸丰重宝，咸丰元宝和咸丰通宝三种之间的区分，就以当五十计值，高于当五十计值的称为“咸丰元宝”，低于当五十及以下计值称为“咸丰重宝”，剩下的就是小平钱咸丰通宝，所有的钱币铸造都十分精美，镌刻在上面的字迹清晰俊秀，铜的材质优良，钱币整体简洁大方，精致，比之前以铜为材质的钱币直径大些，重量重一些。
