孙中山像镍币是随着法币应运而生的。据国民政府1936年1月11日《辅币条例》公布：第一条辅币之铸造专属中央造币厂！1937年抗日战争全面爆发，我中华民族陷入全民战争，山河破碎，民生凋敝。1938年3月财政部令中央造币厂将部分机器运往桂林，1938年5月成立桂林分厂。
 

1939年1月18号中央造币厂桂林分厂正式开工，生产镍币三种面值五分，十分，廿分。
 

1939年下半年由于战争影响，金属价格高涨，镍币生产材料价格已超面值。于1940年辅币改用合金材料。根据《修正辅币条例》规定：十分重3克，五分重2克，成色镍18％，铜55％，锌27％！由于当时材料价格进一步超过面值，故在民国三十一年决定停止铸造五分币。从五分币的诞生到停铸，仅短短3年。
 

民国二十五年孙中山镍币（一枚）币值五分，民国二十四年（1935年）国民政府废止银本位制，禁止白银流通并把白银收归国有，在民国二十四年开始发行新的货币用镍币代替银元。正面摹刻有孙中山先生肖像，背面刻有布币图，孙像古布镍币，币制统一、种类齐全是民国机制流通币中最精美的一种。

Sun Yat-sen like the nickel coin was born with the legal currency. According to the National Government's January 11, 1936 "Commodity Regulations": the first coin is cast exclusively for the Central Mint! In 1937, the Anti-Japanese War broke out in an all-out way. The Chinese nation was caught in a national war, the mountains and rivers were broken, and the people's livelihood was withered. In March 1938, the Ministry of Finance ordered the Central Mint to ship some of its machines to Guilin. In May 1938, the Guilin branch was established.

 

On January 18, 1939, the Central Mint Guilin Branch officially started construction, producing nickel coins with three denominations of five denominations.

 

In the second half of 1939, due to the impact of the war, metal prices rose, and the price of nickel-coin production materials exceeded the face value. In 1940, the coin was changed to alloy material. According to the Amendment of the Coin Regulations: 3 grams, 5 grams, 2 grams, 18% nickel, 55% copper, 27% zinc! Since the material price further exceeded the face value at that time, it decided to stop casting the five cents in the 31st year of the Republic of China. From the birth of the five cents to the stop casting, it was only three years.

 

In the 25th year of the Republic of China, Sun Yat-sen Nickel Coin (one) had a five-point value. In the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935), the National Government abolished the silver standard system, banned silver circulation and nationalized silver, and issued new ones in the Republic of China in the 24th year. The currency uses nickel coins instead of silver dollars. The portrait of Mr. Sun Yat-sen is engraved on the front, and the coin map is engraved on the back. The grandchildren like the ancient nickel coin, the currency system is unified, and the complete variety is the most exquisite one among the circulation of the Republic of China.
